'Bachelorette' Jillian Harris Defends 'Bachelor': 'It's a Difficult Position for Him to Be In,' Former Contestant Says
"Bachelor" Juan Pablo has had his share of trials during this latest season of the reality show. Two women have left the competition of their own accord, saying that they just didn't get along with Juan Pablo and didn't want to waste their time. However, amid all the criticism, former "Bachelorette" star Jillian Harris has stepped forward to defend Juan Pablo and his actions.
"I don't know if he's the right person for the show," Harris told Radar Online. "Juan Pablo's probably not the best 'Bachelor.' I think in Juan Pablo's situation, he put his foot down a lot of times and said, 'No, this is the way it is.' All of us 'Bachelor' and 'Bachelorettes' try to ignore everything around us, but it just seems like maybe this time, it just didn't go as smooth as it was supposed to."
"It's a difficult position to be in for him," she added. "Just being on the show and being in the public eye, I've realized how quickly people are to judge and how awful it feels when people say mean things. I don't think he is like all of the other 'Bachelors' and 'Bachelorettes.' I don't think he is like the rest of the family."
Former contestant Andi Dorfman made headlines when she left the show and then went on to explain exactly why she left, which came down to Juan Pablo's attitude and selfish behavior. She revealed that she could not wait for her overnight trip to the fantasy suite to be over so that she could leave once and for all.
"I don't think that he's selfish or all the different names that people have called him," Harris said. "I just think that he is really independent and strong-minded in his independence."
The former professional soccer player is also a single father, and has said that he will do whatever is necessary to protect his daughter and take care of his family.
