'Bad Boys 3' Confirmed, Will Smith Returning
American action-comedy film "Bad Boys" is getting a third sequel. According to a report by Complex, it is already confirmed that "Bad Boys 3" is happening and the confirmation came from none other than Will Smith himself.
Smith revealed the information during a recent interview with BBC Radio 1 wherein he said that he recently ran into Martin Lawrence for the first time in two years. "I saw Martin [Lawrence] a few weeks ago," Smith said. "I haven't seen him for about two years. We just looked at each other. We hugged. In that moment, we knew we were making another 'Bad Boys.' We're definitely doing another one," he revealed.
Smith was previously speculated not to be returning to the franchise series after new sequels of "Men in Black" and "Independence Day" were announced but neither of the two upcoming movies will reportedly involve the star. But now that it's confirmed that Smith will definitely be returning with Lawrence, fans can now celebrate the fact that after a long time, "Bad Boys 2," which was released in 2003, will finally have a sequel.

As detailed in Chron, Smith once voiced out his interest in making the third installment of the film prior to its confirmation. In 2012, he said that there wasn't a perfect script yet. By 2014, it was Lawrence who gave an update when he was interviewed by late night host Conan O'Brien. He said, "I just spoke to (producer) Jerry Bruckheimer… and he said it's real, they're working on the script and they're getting close. It all looks good."
Everything is now set and fans will just have to wait a little bit longer for the long-awaited sequel. According to a report by Den of Geek, "Bad Boys 3" is slated to hit theaters in February 2017. There's no official announcement to that yet so it's best to take the news with a pinch of salt.
The "Bad Boys" franchise follows the story of Police Detective Marcus Burnett (Lawrence) and his partner Mike Lowrey (Smith).
