'Better Things' Gets Season 3 Renewal From FX
It's official: "Better Things" is returning for a third season.
The Pamela Adlon-led series has been renewed for another run by FX, reports confirmed. Having debuted in September 2016, the series follows Sam Fox (Adlon), a single mom and actor who lives in Los Angeles. She has no filter when it comes to raising her three kids: Max (Mikey Madison), Frankie (Hannah Alligood) and Duke (Olivia Edward). Sam also takes care of her English expatriate mom, Phil (Celia Imrie),who lives just across the street.
So far, only half of the sophomore season has aired. The pickup appears to be a sign of how much faith the network has in "Better Things." However, it's also worth noting that FX renewed the dramedy for a second installment after only a few episodes of season 1 aired. If one thing is for sure, "Better Things" is a project that gets a significant amount of support from the network.
"'Better Things' success is testament to the creative genius of Pamela Adlon as a writer, director and actor," president of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions Eric Schrier said in a press release. "It has been a joy for everyone at FX to support Pamela and see the critics and industry recognize this series as one of the very best shows on TV. Pamela and the enormously talented cast, producers and crew have our deepest appreciation."
Season 3 is scheduled to air next year on FX. The new installment's episode count, along with its release date, have yet to be announced. Since the first two seasons both have 10 episodes each, the upcoming installment will likely run for 10 episodes as well.
Adlon and Louis C.K. serve as co-creators for the show. Last year, "Better Things" won a Peabody Award for its first season and Adlon snagged an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
The second season of "Better Things" airs every Thursday at 10 p.m. EDT on FX.
