Billy Ray Cyrus on Piers Morgan: Miley's Dad Dodges Interview After Racy VMAs Performance

Billy Ray Cyrus was to be on Piers Morgan's show on CNN Monday night to discuss his daughter's racy performance along with singer Robin Thicke- she gyrated and "twerked" while wearing a nude-colored bathing suit at the VMAs Sunday. Just moments before the interview started, though, the father of Miley Cyrus canceled, although the live session is scheduled to be postponed.

Billy Ray Cyrus' time on "Piers Morgan Tonight" was canceled so late that the British newsman's teaser showcasing the upcoming interview could not be edited out of the East coast feeds of the show. Viewers from Maine down to Florida still saw Morgan say that Billy Ray would be on the show, but with 15 minutes left to air, he was nowhere to be found.

"Billy Ray Cyrus was supposed to be on the show tonight to talk about his daughter's performance, but …" Morgan trailed off on-air. "He's got some explaining to do," another guest, filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, replied.

"I'm not sure he's quite worked out what his explanation is yet, so we've decided to postpone it. We are going to get the first interview," Morgan promised. "I know he's watching tonight, so, Billy Ray, good evening and when you're ready, we will talk about this."

Miley Cyrus, who used a large foam finger to grope 36-year-old married father Robin Thicke's private area on stage, has not yet commented about the lewd act to Thicke hit single "Blurred Lines." However, her father did say that he loves her "unconditionally" following the blowback from various celebrities, TV and radio personalities.

"Can't wait to see her when she gets home," Billy Ray Cyrus told Entertainment Tonight. "She's still my little girl and I'm still her dad regardless of how this circus we call show business plays out."

"I love her unconditionally and that will never change," he added.

Though Cyrus' detractors are many, she does have some supporters. Justin Timberlake, who won a Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award at the show and briefly reunited with boy group *NSYNC, defended her act.

"She's young, she's letting everyone know she's growing up," he told Jim Douglas of Fresh 102.7 in New York City Tuesday. "It was the VMAs, what did you guys expect?"
