Carrie Underwood's new music video pays tribute to hardworking women
Her first single off her upcoming album
Country superstar Carrie Underwood recently released her latest music video for her new single "Smoke Break." This is the first single off her upcoming album titled "Storyteller." Underwood gave birth last February to her son Isaiah and is now back with new music for her fans.
In the music video, Underwood is seen driving a truck along the road while tinkering with the radio. As she sings, the scene cuts to a woman working in a diner. The lyrics pays tribute to strong and hardworking women, wherein Underwood sings "It's hard to be a good wife and a good mom and a good Christian." Because of these many roles, she says it is ok if they take a "smoke break," which figuratively meant that they should allow themselves to let some steam off, so to speak.
As the video progresses, Underwood's truck breaks down, but she did not let this stop her. She walks on the road and hitchhikes on a truck, driven by a woman. It ends with her arriving at her gig, and playing the last part of the song's chorus.
Underwood shares how she came up with the concept of the video in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. "I really just wanted it to be mainly about strong women — strong beautiful women who are doing everything that the boys do," she says. She believes that with the hard work that women do, they deserve a break every so often.
With this new music video, fans are anticipating what else Underwood has to offer in her new album. She has also said to Entertainment Tonight that her main goal is to grow as an artist, so she is always looking for a different approach in every album. She reveals that most songs in this album will have more of a rock sound, which is different yet exciting for her. Her album is expected to be released this Oct. 23.
