Chip Gaines Shares the One Tweet That Cemented Their Decision to End 'Fixer Upper'

It has already been weeks since Chip and Joanna Gaines announced that "Fixer Upper" will end after season 5. Talks surrounding the decision, however, continue to swirl online, and one of the hosts bared an interesting detail that contributed to their tough decision.

Yahoo reported that apart from the reasons previously shared by the couple that revolved around focusing more on their children and other businesses, Chip revealed that a certain Tweet coming from a customer signaled that it was indeed time to put their hit TV series to a close. Chip made the revelation in his new book titled "Capital Gaines: Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff" released this week.

"A simple tweet about a late order from our online store was all it took for me to realize that I needed to recalibrate," wrote Chip. "That tweet-fueled revelation also brought me to realize that Jo and I are tired," he added. The message came from one of their Magnolia Market customers who have yet to receive his order at that time, said a report from Realtor.com.

The client posted "Hey @chippergaines it's been 3 weeks, and I still haven't gotten my wreath. What's up?!"

Chip shared that at first, he and his wife Joanna believed they could manage the TV show and their businesses. He said that they felt they could pull off everything in the early stages.

As the "Fixer Upper" seasons went by, things became harder and harder to balance. "So much time was being allocated to filming that the details of the business were slipping," Gaines went on to say.

Earlier this month, the Gaineses dispelled rumors that the reason behind their decision was the security of their children. "Chip and Jo's decision to leave Fixer Upper is truly just based on wanting to catch their breath for a minute; to rest, refresh, and spend even more time with their family and growing businesses," the couple's representative told Entertainment Tonight.

In addition, the rep also stressed that they were very honest with their reasons right from the moment they made the announcement.
