'Criminal Minds' Spoilers: Legend of the Mountain Man Takes Center Stage (VIDEO)

"Criminal Minds" is all new tonight, with a storyline possibly based in history and murders affiliated with a long-standing family feud in West Virginia. The episode is directed by cast member Matthew Gray Gubler, who plays Dr. Spencer Reid in the series.

"Blood Relations," the name of tonight's episode, sheds a bit of light on what may be at the center of killings in West Virginia. According to reports, the episode is loosely based on the story of the Hatfields & McCoys, two real families who feuded over coal mining in the same state. The two families held a long-standing feud that was quite deadly and passed down through many generations.

"When two murder victims are found in a backwoods community in West Virginia, the BAU will uncover a long-simmering feud between two families and must investigate which side could be responsible for the deaths," TV Guide says.

The episode will also focus on the legend of the Mountain Man, a killer who was born 40 years ago and resides as a member of the Appalachian population. How he will figure into the equation has yet to be announced, but fans can count on anticipation as he lurks among the residents, seemingly innocent yet posing a serious threat to members of the BAU and harboring a deadly secret.

Adrienne Barbeau, who starred in the hit series "Maude" and appeared in numerous horror films directed by former husband John Carpenter, is scheduled to appear in the new episode as Cissy Howard. Tobin Bell, star of the "Saw" movies, appears as Malachi Lee, and Ronnie Gene Blevins from "The Dark Knight Rises" portrays Miles Lee.

With all of these experts in dark film starring in tonight's episode, it's guaranteed to be one of the more intense episodes of the season. How will the case affect the members of the BAU? Tune in tonight to find out.
