Davy Jones Autopsy Report Reveals Heart Attack, Drugs in System

Davy Jones' autopsy report confirms that the famous frontman of the Monkees died of a heart attack due to severe buildup in his arteries.

The autopsy report of Davy Jones, completed by the Martin County Medical Examiner, revealed that the abnormal heart rhythm caused coronary artery atherosclerosis- in laymen's terms, the plaque in Jones' arteries became too much stress for his heart.

In addition to the official cause of death being announced, the autopsy also discovered drugs in Jones' system. The rock n' roll star had cannabinoids in his body- a class of drug that includes marijuana and spice- but the report said that the drugs had no cause in the singer's death. It also revealed that the 66-year-old had congested lungs.

Jones died Feb. 29 while visiting his horses at a Florida ranch. He first had breathing problems while there, and his assistant was present at the time to call 911.

The call was released, where she was heard telling emergency medical services to "hurry," and suggesting she drive him to the hospital herself to save time. Unfortunately, by the time Jones reached the hospital, he was pronounced dead, according to Rhonda Irons, spokeswoman for the Martin County Sheriff's Office.

The world was shocked by Jones' death. His former bandmates, Micky Dolenz, Peter Tork, and Michael Nesmith all commented on the frontman's passing, with Dolenz claiming he had premonitions the night before the incident.

"Can't believe it … Still in shock … had bad dreams all night long," Dolenz told TMZ in a statement. "My love and prayers go out to Davy's girls and family right now."

"It is with great sadness that I reflect on the sudden passing of my long-time friend and fellow adventurer, David Jones," stated Tork of the Englishman. "His talent will be much missed; his gifts will be with us always. My deepest sympathy to Jessica and the rest of his family. Adios, to the Manchester Cowboy."

Davy Jones leaves behind four daughters: Annabel, Talia, Sarah Lee, and Jessica Lillian, and wife Jessica Pacheco, whom he married in 2009.
