'Dragon Ball FighterZ' Open Beta and Release Date Announced

Dragon Ball fans who are itching to play the upcoming "Dragon Ball Fighter Z" can get an early taste of its open beta.

Game developer Bandai Namco announced that it will host an open beta for the game. Though they did not lay down much of the specifics, they confirmed that gamers who will pre-order the digital copy of "Dragon Ball FighterZ" will enjoy early access to the open beta.

The digital copies will only be available on the PlayStation Store and the Xbox Store, Gamespot reported. The physical copy, on the other hand, will not give gamers early access to the open beta, the report added.

Meanwhile, Bandai Namco also confirmed that the game will be released on Jan. 26 next year in the U.S. Apart from launching in the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, the game will also have a Windows PC version, reported Polygon.

Furthermore, the developer also showed off new screen images featuring the Nappa and Captain Ginyu. In addition, the company also showed shots of the game's story mode as well as its online mode. For the story mode, Bandai Namco said it will feature a link system that will enable players to embody various characters.

As for the campaign mode, VG247 reported that it will come in three parts, each one bringing unique details that complete the story. There will be a Super Warriors Arc from the perspective of the Saiyans and a Super Villain Arc coming from the views of the antagonists. Moreover, there will also be an Android Arc, representing the Androids.

There will also be a Circle Match mode where eight players can battle against each other, with four matches happening at the same time. Also included is the World Match where players can choose from typical casual and ranked.

Back in July, the sign up for the closed beta was delayed and pushed by Bandai Namco to late August. "Due to the volume of excitement and enthusiasm surrounding this announcement, we have decided to expand the capacity of the closed beta in an effort to enable more players to participate in the program," explained the company in a Facebook post.
