Season 4 of "Elementary" will have a new addition who will also stay on as series regular. The eminently watchable John Noble has been cast as Sherlock's rich but estranged father, and he is here in New York City to deal with his son's addiction issue.

Season 3 finale had our popular sleuth go back to his drug addiction. John Noble, who played Denethor in "The Lord of the Rings" movie series will come to New York City to fix Sherlock's recurring addiction issue.

Being Sherlock's father has not been easy for the rich and lonely Mr. Holmes, Senior. Already fragile, father-son relationship is right now at its deepest end. Sherlock, of course, does not appreciate his father coming to look after him.

Executive producer Rob Doherty told Entertainment Weekly "Once he arrives, Sherlock does not appreciate the attention or the distraction that his dad represents. For him, it's too little too late. This is a father and a son with a very complicated history. I'd say for at least a couple decades, Sherlock's father has been out of sight, out of mind. This is going to be a big adjustment for Sherlock to have dad nearby."

Fans have always heard about Morland Holmes, Sherlock's father, from Sherlock even though angry expressions appear on his face whenever his father's name crops up. Joan Watson may see Morland as a kind man, even though Sherlock warns her that it may be a facade. Through the series, Morland Holmes will reveal a darker side of his psyche that will shock the viewers.

Doherty, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, said, "When Joan does meet dad, there will be some friction… when Morland arrives and makes a genuine and surprising attempt to help Sherlock, Sherlock has to rethink his relationship with his dad. As the season progresses, we're going to see that Joan is worried that dad is a little more like the guy Sherlock has described, versus the guy he seems to be now. She'll be keeping a careful eye on him."

This is sure going to spice things up as Noble has perfected the art of deceiving the audience with his looks and this is one thing that viewers will definitely look forward to in "Elementary" Season 4.
