'Flip or Flop' Star Tarek El Moussa Was at Las Vegas Music Festival Before Mass Shooting Happened

The horrific shooting that left dozens dead and over 500 injured in Las Vegas earlier this week was one of the most shocking and heartbreaking in the modern history of the United States.

As people from different walks of life express their condolences to the victims, "Flip or Flop" star Tarek El Moussa also joined the outpouring of sympathies, especially after revealing that he was nearly caught in the midst of the shooting spree.

PEOPLE reported that the real estate guru was part of the massive crowd at the Route 91 music festival. El Moussa, however, was fortunate to have left early, moments before the shooter opened fire to the attendees.

"I was there last night at the Route 91 Harvest Country Music Festival in #Vegas. My friend Robert wanted to come home early which we did," wrote El Moussa on Instagram. "My heart goes out to everyone who has been affected by this tragedy. It's times like this that remind us we need to treat everyday with the importance it deserves," he continued.

"Give your family and friends a hug today and let them know they are safe and loved. #PrayForVegas #love#family," the 36-year-old TV host added.

His ex-wife, Christina, also took to Instagram to express her thoughts on the incident. "This hit WAY too close to home. This tragedy puts a lot of things in perspective.. Life is short. Be kind. Be grateful," the "Flip or Flop" co-star added.

According to a CNN report, the shooting has left at least 58 people dead, with about 515 recovering from injuries caused by the shooting as well as the stampede that occurred. The gunman, later identified as Stephen Paddock, 64, reportedly used 12 rifles and fired relentlessly for nine to 11 minutes

The shooter's motive is still unknown and so far, and he seemed to have acted alone. Moreover, the latest police reports confirmed that the mass shooting was carefully planned. Paddock apparently set up cameras inside his hotel room as well as the hallway. The cameras were speculated to be placed by the gunman to see if someone was approaching his hotel suite.

Paddock eventually killed himself after the shooting.
