Galaxy Note 3 Vs. LG G Flex: Spec by Spec Comparison
Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 inherited some unique competition when LG released the G Flex smartphone earlier this year.
The new device features a fairly large screen with a curved design that makes it unique to the market. Despite its name, the LG G Flex is not a bendable device. However, its curved display does provide for a special viewing experience when a user is watching a video or playing a game. So is the Flex enough to take on the Galaxy Note 3? Here is a spec by spec comparison of the two handsets.

The Galaxy Note 3 packs one of the most impressive displays on the market with its 5.7-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 1920 x 1080 resolution at 386ppi. The LG G Flex is slightly less impressive with its 6-inch display with 1280x720 pixels at 245ppi. The only advantage the Flex may have over Samsung's device is the curve as it gives an almost mini Imax experience while watching a high-definition video. But it just can't match up to the resolution and clarity found on the Note 3.
Design
The Galaxy Note 3 features a new design for Samsung products with its plastic leather-like backing which gives it a classier look overall. The LG G Flex is unique with its curve, however, it does give the device a tackier less classy appearance. It actually looks more like a toy than a smartphone. Curved frames might not be the future for business people. The buttons on the back also make for a less convenient experience with the handset. The Note 3 clearly has the advantage here, despite LG's innovations.
Camera
The Galaxy Note 3 features what is arguably the best smartphone camera on the market with its 13-megapixel rear shooter capable of capturing video in 4k. It also takes pictures with 4128 x 3096 pixels and features image stabilization. The LG G Flex also comes with a 13-megapixel camera that can take pictures with even higher resolution. However, it does not pack image stabilization. The two are close to being even in this department.
Speed
The LG G Flex and Galaxy Note 3 come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. This allows both devices to run pretty quick and efficiently. The main difference here is the RAM as the Note 3 comes with 3GB and the G Flex packs just 2GB. Neither device is slow, but Samsung has an advantage here thanks to a larger amount of RAM.
Conclusion
The Galaxy Note 3 is basically the standard device for the phablet or large smartphone market making it tough to beat. Samsung really out did themselves this time around as the Note 3 can do things that no other device can. LG brought some innovative new ideas to the market with the G Flex, but hasn't really perfected them yet. It will be interesting to see what LG does with the technology in future devices, but for now the Note 3 is definitely the better buy.
