Google Chrome Beta Launched for Ice Cream Sandwich Devices

Google has just launched a beta version of its Google Chrome web browser that is specifically made for Android-powered devices.

The company recently announced the release of the Beta on the Google Chrome Blog. The company is focusing on bringing three main aspects of the Chrome browser for desktops including Speed, Simplicity and Sign in to mobile devices running Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich.

Tech site 9to5Google recently tested the beta. "After a few minutes of use, all we can say is, "Wow!" Without a doubt, this is the most advanced mobile browser we have ever seen," wrote the site.

However, it is wondering what this Android beta Google Chrome means for Chromebooks.

"If I can get as ASUS Transformer with Keyboard and this very awesome Chrome implementation, why am I going to buy an Intel-based Chromebook for almost the same amount," wrote 9to5Google.

In terms of "Speed," this new version of Chrome loads up a user's top search results in the background along with implementing a version of the desktop browser's omnibox. For "Simplicity" it features a brand new UI that specifically focuses on redesigned tabs for a smaller screen that allows users to swipe between an unlimited number of tabs that resembles holding a deck of cards.

Signing in is also made better for the Android beta version since its features offer integration with Chrome on other devices. It allows users to view open tabs from their desktop session along with syncing bookmarks and getting suggestions based on browsing history from their Chrome on their home computer. Anyone signed into the system can pick up where they left off from their last session conducted on a separate device.

The Chrome for Android Beta is currently available on the Android Market in "select countries" and is compatible with phones and tablets running Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich.
