Green Bay Packers News and Rumors: What to Expect in Week 13

The Green Bay Packers started this season like a house on fire; but after a 6-0 start, they now have lost four of their last five games to get themselves out of the top spot of their division. Their Thanksgiving Day loss against the Chicago Bears is the best representation of how the season has gone down for the squad, especially their offense.

While injuries obviously contribute to the team's losing skid, the fact remains that the team hasn't shown any resilience or will to relive the kind of mentality they had at the start of the season. The question now is can they redeem themselves in Week 13?

There's no doubt this team is Aaron Rodger's team, but without a clear-cut and reliable wide receiver, it's just too difficult to win against the league's elite defenses. Clearly, Rodgers is struggling big time after Jordy Nelson tore his ACL in a Week 2 preseason game. Someone must man up and do this team a favor by taking the place of one of NFL's best receivers.

Also, running back Eddie Lacy had a forgettable start to the season, but the Packers were winning at that point. Since there's a huge hole to be filled in the passing game, Lacy must be able to improve in the offensive end to give his team a lift in Week 13.

As for Rodgers, he needs to step it up, too. Although he's the team's best player, he still needs to show opponents that he is the best quarterback in the league; something he hasn't done at least in the past two weeks of football. Facing a Lions team next will gauge how desperate he is to get his team to win once again.

Lastly, it's up to the Packers' defensive secondary to finally show up in Week 13 if they want to keep their hopes alive. They haven't really figured out how to stop opponents and their poor play may well become the target of a Detroit Lions offense that is surging right now.

The team surrendered the top spot in NFC North last week after the loss to the Bears, but they still have a lot of football to play. If they want to grab the top spot once again, they'll have to start winning.
