Ice Cream Sandwich Tablets Offered for Under $250
For consumers looking for an affordable tablet equipped with Android's Ice Cream Sandwich operating system there is a list of devices that could be perfect for them to purchase.
First on that list would be Viewsonic's ViewPad E70 that costs $169. The company announced last month that it would ship the E70 model with Android 4.0 by the end of the first quarter. Some of its features include a 7-inch screen, a front facing camera and a microSD slot.
Next on the list is E Fun's 10-inch Nextbook. This tablet will sell for just $230 and will include the latest in Android software. It also packs a dual-core ARM processor and will be officially available this spring, according to the company. Its screen will measure at 9.7-inches with a high-definition pixel resolution.
The Velocity Cruz line will also include many tablets under $250 that will run on the Ice Cream Sandwich software. The company's 7-inch device will ship for $150 and the 10-inch version will cost $250 just making the mark. They will come equipped with capacitive touchscreens and run on Cortex-A8 ARM processors with clock speeds of 1.2GHz. They will also have front facing cameras and support Adobe Flash 11.
Coby also plans to introduce cost effective Android 4.0 tablets. They will start at $179 for the 7-inch version. They will come with a front camera and have up to 1GB of RAM. These tablets are expected to ship before the end of the first quarter of 2012.
One of the cheapest tablets to be offered with Ice Cream Sandwich will be the MIPS under-$100 tablet. This device will have a 7-inch capacitive screen, a 1GHz single-core MIPS processor and will provide users with eight hours of battery life for video watching. It will also have 3D graphics capabilities, 1080p video decoding and an HDMI port.
