Independence Day: Resurgence trailer is out, gives preview on Earth destruction

It's been a long time coming, and although the main attraction in the first film is no longer part of it, the sequel to the 1996 blockbuster, "Independence Day" is finally here. The trailer for the second installment, titled "Independence Day: Resurgence" will no longer star Will Smith, but it still has enough interesting things in it for every moviegoer to be excited.

The trailer has recently been released and according to the Wall Street Journal, the signature "terrestrial devastation" made popular in the first film makes a comeback, but this time the Earth will be paying a lot more than what it did to those visiting hostile aliens. It's actually payback time for them!

Director Roland Emmerich, with film studio 20th Century Fox backing him up, revived the once thought to be dead idea of a sequel, finally living up to millions of fans of the first installment. And what really is interesting is that the film's timeline is set 20 years after the first invasion, which obviously fits the schedule of its release this year.

Based on what the trailer has shown so far, the second film is in no way deviating from the plot of an alien force trying to invade the world, but this time the amount of devastation, size of alien ships, and even the aliens themselves are twice as much. The Earth and the human race has finally come up with technology (using what they got from the aliens in the first film) to build a force that can face future invasions. However, the planet will again need a bunch of heroes in order to defeat the second wave of invaders, which, as one can see in the preview, are more than we could handle.

The sequel will be featuring a new main protagonist in Liam Hemsworth, who will play as a young and confident pilot, while the returnees are led by Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum, both of whom are reprising their roles in the first film.
