iPhone 5 Release Date: What Apple Users Are Demanding From New iPhone 5

Apple iPhone enthusiasts are expecting some serious improvements from the new iPhone 5, which the popular tech company is expected to reveal Tuesday.

Consumers are looking for an upgraded battery with longer life and are not interested in plunking down too much money for the new iPhone 5, according to a survey conducted by PriceGrabber and Experian earlier this year.

"When it comes to the new features shoppers deem most important in their decision to purchase the iPhone 5, practicality seems to reign," according to the survey.

When asked what features of the iPhone they felt were most important when considering a purchase, 59 percent of survey participants said battery life was vital, while 55 percent indicated that a cheaper price tag was important.

In addition, 45 percent of respondents are looking for the new iPhone 5 to have a bigger screen and 42 percent are hoping for a more powerful camera.

"Anticipation and brand loyalty are certainly high, but in today's 24-7 work culture and uncertain economic environment, consumers are cautious to look for a reasonably priced phone that will perform optimally over an extended time period," stated Graham Jones, general manager of PriceGrabber, in a press release.

Based on speculation from tech experts, Apple may indeed unveil a "budget" iPhone during Tuesday's "Let's Talk iPhone" event.

Christina Bonnington of Wired says, "We were initially skeptical that Apple would release two iPhones this fall, a new iPhone and an incrementally updated or budget 'iPhone 4S.' But hints from different sources suggest that a budget 'iPhone 4S' could very likely make an appearance at Apple’s iPhone event."

Other features the iPhone 5 is expected to have include an 8 megapixel camera, a larger screen and a sleeker design.

The PriceGrabber/Experian survey was conducted July 1–11, 2011, and includes responses from 2,852 U.S. online consumers.
