'iZombie' Season 2 has Ravi hunting for the cure, side effects to have funny moments
Season 2 of "iZombie" will have Ravi go on a quest to find the cure to turn zombies back to humans. Liv has used up the cure that Ravi has concocted on Major and Blaine and now, it's gone. Ravi has to obtain some of the tainted Utopium from the original boat party in order to make more of it. At the same time, the cure has some side effects that draws Ravi's attention.
The executive producer of the show, Rob Thomas, tells TVLine, "We're going to have a little bit of fun with the cure side effects, but no plans on having other creatures." So the season will not feature other exotic creatures like vampires or werewolves and it will pretty much stick to zombies. It might have some comic elements with the zombies having side effects that it will be fun to watch.
Fans will recall from Season 1 of the show that Blaine had stabbed Major in the finale. Liv had no option but to turn him into a zombie. Major is angry with this decision and accuses her of playing God. Liv then injects Major with the last dose of Ravi's zombie antidote. Ravi tells Liv that the zombie antidote is not perfect and he has no way of knowing what the side effects may be. He tells her that the zombie antidote still needs "a few months of observation and testing."
Viewers do not know what the possible side effects will be, whether its temporary or permanent or something as drastic as Ravi's first zombie rat which expired just 48 hours after receiving the cure.
Season 2 will have Major experiencing some side effects of the cure. As Thomas said, these side effects could be quite comical so viewers can expect some laughs. Already, there are signs of those kinds of moments in Episode 1 of Season 2 when Liv consumes the brain of a cantankerous old man to solve his mysterious death and begins behaving like him. This should be fun to watch as Liv starts behaving like a "cantankerous old man" in that scene.
"iZombie" Season 2 returns on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 8 p.m. on The CW.
