Lady Gaga 'Applause' Performance on 'Good Morning America' Based on 'Wizard of Oz'
This morning Lady Gaga took to the stage of "Good Morning America" to put on an elaborate and involved performance of those she is known for. She performed her newest single "Applause" which will be released along with her third album "ARTPOP" in early November.
On "Good Morning America" Lady Gaga recreated scenes from the popular 1939 movie "The Wizard of Oz." She pulled all the stops, with background dancers taking on the rolls of the lion, the tin man, the scarecrow, and even a winged monkey. She held her own dog in a basket a la Dorthy and Toto from the original movie.
The performance certainly piqued interest for Lady Gaga's upcoming alblum. She had previously revealed a few details about what "ARTPOP" will contain while speaking at the British iTunes Festival.
"I think every person in their life goes through so many different things. I was going through a hard time with Born This Way. I was kind of insecure. I became a star really quickly and I didn't really have time to really put my feet in the ground and have a sense of myself through it all 'cause it's like a machine and you just keep going, the singer said.
"There was a lot of me putting things on I think to hide that sadness and the record reflected that," she continued. "I'm feeling so positive and healed in a lot of ways and I feel really overjoyed and full with love. I'm obsessed with making things colorful and happy, and I think it's because I'm in a happy place. So when I'm in a happy place the music is," Lady Gaga said.
"ARTPOP" will be available for purchase on November 11.
