LG G2 Android 4.4, KitKat Update Roll Outs to Begin By End of March

The LG G2 Android 4.4, KitKat update could be available by the end of March, according to a recent report.

LG Italy recently responded to a user on Facebook inquiring when the software would make its way to the device in the country. The company revealed that it could be as early as March. A roll out in Italy would also mean an official European release. LG France all but confirmed this information by stating that the update will be available in early 2014.

An LG Canada rep also weighed in to the release in a report back in Nov. stating the it will hit the G2 at the end of Q1 2014 which falls in March.

LG has not officially confirmed any official release dates for the software at this time. The only version running KitKat at this time is in Korea.

LG would want to push out that update out fairly soon if the rumors regarding its next-gen model are true as company's new LG G3 could be released on May 17, 2014.

The successor to last year's G2 was reported on by Korean media last week. The sources revealed some of the specifications of the handset as well as the expected launch.

The device is rumored to feature a QHD display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560, which is four times as many pixels as a 720p touchscreen. It is expected to be around 5.5-inches.

The rumored May release date pushes the refresh cycle forward a bit as the LG G2 debuted in September of 2013. LG seems to want to get a head start on the competition by pushing out the handset at that time.

The LG G3 could be introduced as early as February at this year's Mobile World Congress.
