Farah inspired all of Great Britain last weekend when he won the 10,000M final is a dramatic race in front of a packed Olympic stadium housing 80,000 adoring fans. He had been one of the favorites to take the gold in that race, and he lived up to his billing by winning a tight race to claim gold for Team GB.

Following that victory Mo Farah broke down in tears at his achievement, having fought for years against all the odds to race in his home Olympic Games.

Farah will enter the 5,000M as one of the favorites once again, and he is the current reigning champion in the event.

However, he will be pushed all the way by Galen Rupp, who is his training partner. Rupp claimed the silver medal, coming just behind Farah in the 10,000M event.

Another favorite for the 5,000M will be Team USA's Bernard Lagat, who finished second at the World Championships at both the 2009 and 2011 meets.

All three of those runners had a controlled qualifying campaign for this 5,000M final. Neither of them ran out winners in their heats, and undoubtedly were saving themselves for this final and just comfortably qualifying in the middle of the pack.

Another runner to look out for is American Lopez Lamong who qualified for the final in a time of 13 minutes 26.16 seconds.

However, the American runners are up against history; no Team USA runner has won an Olympic medal at the 5,000M race since 1964 in a dry period stretching nearly half a century.
