MacBook Pro Retina 13-inch Model to Start at $1699

The MacBook Pro retina 13-inch model will sell for $1,699, according to reports.

Tech site 9to5Mac now claims to have received pricing information for the new computer, which states that the computer will cost somewhere around $1,699.

However, this price applies to directly to the base model, with the lowest specifications.

The higher end models will cost around $300 more, according to the site.

The new 13-inch MacBook pro is expected to debut at a media event later on this month. The current 13-inch MacBook pro models retail for $1,199 and $1,499.

The higher end models normally feature faster processors, more RAM, and extra internal memory. The release of the retina MacBook will provide Apple enthusiasts with more options for those seeking out a compact notebook.

The retina display also attracts customers willing to shell out a bit more money for a beautiful display. Apple's retina technology is now available on the company's line of 15-inch MacBook Pros, and the third-generation iPad. It also comes on the iPhone 5.

The 15-inch retina MacBook Pro models sell for $400 more than their non-retina counterparts. The 13-inch models will sell for $500 more than the non-retina models.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro with retina display is expected to be unveiled by Apple at the company's media event set to take place on Oct. 23.

Apple is also expected to give the public a first look at the new 7.85 iPad Mini.

The company sent out invites to this event earlier this week which read "we've got a little more to show you."

The iPad Mini is expected to be priced in between $199 and $299 in order to compete with the Google Nexus 7 and Amazon Kindle Fire HD.
