13-inch MacBook Pro Retina Display Release Confirmed
The 13-inch MacBook Pro retina display model's release has been confirmed by sources.
9to5Google reports that a highly reliable U.S. retailer leaked the news that Apple plans on launching the smaller version of the high-end laptop at a media event set to take place on Oct. 23.
This new MacBook Pro will pick up the thinner and lighter enclosure of the 15-inch MacBook model that was released by the company in June.
Apple is expected to launch two different versions of the 13-inch MacBook Pro that feature different processors and storage. The two computers will be available for purchase following the event.
The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display will also retail at a higher price than the current model.
Apple also plans on unveiling the new iPad Mini that day at their event.
Reuters confirmed the company's plans in a new report and also stated that Apple wants to upstage Microsoft, who will be unveiling its Surface tablet on Oct. 26.
The new iPad Mini will feature a 7.85-inch screen and will be priced to compete with the 8GB Google Nexus 7 tablet and the Amazon Kindle Fire HD, which both sell for $199.
The long-rumored tablet was actually seen by a Wall Street analyst while he visited component suppliers in Asia.
"We actually had the opportunity to play with a pilot iPad Mini used by one of the vendors," said Topeka Capital analyst Brian White. "This 7.85-inch iPad Mini fit our hands like a glove and we were easily able to tuck the device in our sport coat, offering consumers a more mobile iPad experience."
Apple also recently shipped the new iPod Touch models that feature a bigger 4-inch display and an A5 chip.
