Manchester United vs. Galatasaray Live Stream: Watch Online Champions League Soccer (Team News)
Manchester United vs. Galatasaray will take place on Wednesday in the opening fixture for Group H in the Champions League. The match will kick off at 2.45 p.m. ET and can be watched online through live stream (details below).
Manchester United are favorites going into the tie, and particularly with the home advantage anything less than three points would be considered a disappointing result for the Reds.
However, Galatasaray are notoriously a tough side to play against and they will do their best to get something out of tonight's game and pull off an upset.
Current Champions League form might not really mean too much as this is the start of a new season, however, Manchester United's European form going into this match is not particularly good. They have won just three of their past 11 games in Europe having gone on a slump towards the end of the competition last season.
But history is on the side of the English Premier League team; Galatasaray are not very good travelers, especially to England. The Turkish outfit has never won an away match against an English club in seven attempts. Furthermore the side has not won any of their last eight Champions League away games.
For United Patrice Evra is set to return having recovered from his minor knock while on international duty. He missed United's last game against Wigan but is now believed to be fit for tonight's game.
Robin van Persie should be fit to start and could be an important target man up front for Manchester United. He came on for the second half at the weekend, and has been training with the rest of the team ahead of today's European tie.
Darren Fletcher is also another name who could see some action. He has been out since November 2011, but is gaining fitness now, although he might not be fully match fit at this stage, indicating a start on the bench for the Scotsman.
On the Galatasaray side of things, defenders Tomas Ujfalusi and Sabri Sarioglu are both out injured.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said ahead of the game, "Robin has the experience of playing in Europe with Arsenal. Shinji is that kind of player who will thrive in Europe, where possession is key."
He added, "At the moment with Chris Smalling and Phil Jones out long-term, I'm left with three centre-backs in Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand and Jonny Evans. If I was guaranteed two of those being fit for the rest of the season I'd take that gladly right now. It's not been the case in the last two or three years, when we have had a really rough ride.
"I've had to alternate centre-backs. Go back two years ago and we had Michael Carrick, Darren Fletcher and Patrice Evra there.
"That's a key issue. I can't hide that. I just hope I get a bit of luck in that respect."
Galatasaray coach Fatih Terim has said, "Manchester United have been so successful in the Champions League for many years. I was there when they beat Bayern Munich in the (1999) final and they have won many more important games apart from that. What happened last season was a surprise, but maybe it will just make them even more motivated," according to BBC News.
