Microsoft Slashes Surface Pro 3's Prices Prior to Surface Pro 4's Release
Microsoft announced last week that the company will launch its fourth Surface Pro hardware, and consumers now saw a price drop for the new device's predecessor, the Surface Pro 3.
Buyers from the United States and the United Kingdom will be able to enjoy a huge discount when purchasing their Surface Pro 3 units. Win Beta reported that the heavily discounted devices will be available up until Oct. 31. The website considered this "bizarre," since the prices of the older and brand-new Surface Pro would match after the promo period ends. Fans will just have to check back on the Microsoft Store, whether the Surface Pro 3 would still be available after Oct. 31.
U.S. buyers will enjoy a $100 discount across all the Surface Pro 3 versions, while U.K. consumers will get a bigger discount. According to Windows Central, U.K. buyers will get about £90 to £240 price slash, depending on the model of the Surface Pro 3.
The website enumerated the breakdown of the prices of each model; for example, the Intel Core i3 with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage will now be $699 from $799 for U.S. customers, while U.K. buyers can get it for £549 from £639. Another model, the Intel Core i7 with 8 GB RAM and 512 GB storage is currently sold for $1,849 instead of $1,949 in the United States, while it's £1329 from £1549 in the United Kingdom.
The new Surface Pro 4 will run on Windows 10, and will powered by Intel's sixth-generation Skylake processor. The new device is said to be available with up to 1 TB internal storage, and up to 16 GB RAM. It is also said to come with 8-megapixel rear camera, and 5-megapixel front camera.
Manufacturers usually discount their devices once a newer hardware is available, just like the case for the Surface Pro 3. The Surface Pro 4 will be available from Oct. 26, with prices starting at $899.
