NBA Trade Rumors: Monroe Could Go to Pelicans, Douglas to Grizzlies
The following are the latest rumors for the 2016-17 NBA Season.
1. Greg Monroe to New Orleans Pelicans
The Milwaukee Bucks currently have a standing of 9 wins and 8 losses. This puts the team at sixth place in the Eastern Conference early this season. This puts the Bucks at a comfortable position a few games into the season, and they have lots of time to improve their record and be at the top of the conference.
Despite the Bucks good standing, Greg Monroe has been involved in yet another trade rumor. He has been the subject of trade speculation for a couple of months now, mainly due to the fact that he seems unable to fit well with the roster. This season, Monroe is averaging a career low 8.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.
One trade scenario suggests that Monroe could be sent to the New Orleans Pelicans. Monroe will be joined by Michael Beasley, and in exchange the Pelicans will send Omer Asik and Tyreke Evans to the Bucks.
Greg Monroe will be Anthony Davis' backup center. Davis currently needs a lot of help in the scoring department. He is practically doing it all, averaging a career high 31.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and a league high 2.7 blocks per game.
If this pushes through, talented rookie center Thon Maker will surely get more minutes. Maker admits that there's a lot more to learn and habits to develop while playing in the NBA. "Simple things like defensive rotations, where the guy's gonna be in the right spots. I hear the coaches yelling behind me to certain guys to be on the floor at a certain time, so for me, I'm watching that from the bench and when I get the chance I'll be ready."
2. Toney Douglas to Memphis Grizzlies
Michael Wallace, Grizzlies beat writer, tweeted that "Combo guard Toney Douglas has emerged as the front runner to join the Grizzlies if approved for an NBA injury exception in the coming days."
Toney Douglas averaged 8.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists last season with the New Orleans Pelicans. He joined the Cleveland Cavaliers during the preseason, but he was dropped from the team.
Aside from Toney Douglas, other players that are considered to be on the Memphis Grizzlies roster include Will Bynum and Norris Cole.
Mike Conley suffered fractures in the lower back and will likely miss 6 weeks. He suffered the injury in a loss against the Charlotte Hornets.
