Nintendo Switch to Feature Arcade Game Ports
Nintendo Switch owners can expect a new treat for their console that will enable them to enjoy some of the classic arcade titles.
The new feature serves as game ports for some of the classic arcade titles.
Though Nintendo did not disclose specific details, Gamespot reported some of the titles that will likely appear. These include "Super Mario Bros.," "VS. Ice Climber," "VS. Balloon Fight," "VS. Clu Clu Land," "VS. Pinball," and the arcade classic "Punch Out."
Moreover, Nintendo did not say how much they will cost, though they confirmed the release date, which is Sept. 27. In addition, the games can be played using the Joy-Cons with multiplayer options.
The Arcade Archives announcement also came as a surprise for some gaming observers. Some expected the announcement to be for the Virtual Console, but Nintendo remained silent about it during the live stream.
Meanwhile, Nintendo is set to ramp up its production of the Switch in time for the holiday season. In a statement to The Wall Street Journal, Nintendo said they are bent on giving everybody a chance to own the console. "We're doing everything we can to make sure everyone who wants to buy a Nintendo Switch system can do so," said Nintendo. "We will ramp up production for the holiday period, which has been factored into our forecast," the company added.
The company targets to ship 10 million units by March of next year, which is the closing of its fiscal year. A source, however, shared that the company should instead go for 18 million units. "One executive in the supply chain said his company was ready to pick up the pace of production if asked," said the report.
Supplies in different parts of the world have been running out. Countries like Japan and the U.S. have reported shortages in stocks. Retail giants like Target, Walmart, and GameStop have also confirmed their stocks are in the red.
