'Pokemon GO' Rumors: Game's Halloween Event to Introduce Generation 3 Pokemon

With Niantic's announcement earlier this week that it will be holding a Halloween in-game event for "Pokemon GO" this year, it is now suspected that the game may finally be ushering Generation 3 Pokemon characters into the game.

While many were not surprised with Niantic's announcement on its official website this week that it will be holding a Halloween event this year, as the gaming company also held one last year, many couldn't help but feel intrigued with a portion of the announcement.

"The Halloween season is a special time in 'Pokémon GO.' Plenty of good stuff is coming to the game later this October, and we can't wait to get out and about to see what sort of excitement we can scare up while catching new Pokémon to fill out your Pokédex," goes a portion of the announcement on the game's official website.

For many gaming pundits, the announcement's mention of "new Pokemon" may be a hint that "Pokemon GO" is finally introducing the Generation 3 Pokemon characters into the game.

To recall, it was reported back in August that the version 0.71.0 update for the game comes with 135 Generation 3 Pokemon from Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald in the metadata. Although Niantic has yet to officially announce the Generation 3 Pokemon characters being ushered into the world of "Pokemon GO," it is suspected that they are the "new Pokemon" that the announcement is referring to.

It is interesting to note that Pokemon GO's" Generation 2 update was released only seven months after the game was launched. Since it has been eight months since Generation 2 update was made, some believe that it is high time for the Generation 3 update, and it may just arrive in conjunction with the game's Halloween event.

As of this writing, Niantic has yet to announce when its Halloween event will kick off. However, it is believed that the date of the event will be announced along with the company's confirmation on the arrival of the Generation 3 Pokemon characters.
