REQ System for 'Halo 5: Guardians' revealed. To stream at 60fps for smoother gameplay.
Good news for fans of Halo Games. "Halo 5: Guardians" is giving gamers pre-order bonuses in the form of REQs. These are "Halo 5's" online points which a player can use to buy items like armor, weapons, and vehicles to use in the game.
The game developers of Halo Games, 343 Industries, gave the details on Halo Waypoint. Microsoft has also released a video of how the "Halo 5: Guardians" new REQ system works.
REQs are requisitions and they are essentially a smart way to attract gamers who want to get as much as they can for playing a game like "Halo 5." Since "Halo 5: Guardians" is being regarded as Microsoft's biggest offering this fall, the company hopes that REQs will differentiate "Halo 5" among other first-person shooter games and will encourage gamers to go for its Xbox One console above those of the PS4.
REQs provide an innovative way of keeping the game relevant, fresh and exciting to the gamers. Players are awarded these points when they do something cool or when they complete the mission in a specific manner. Almost every interaction a player makes in multiplayer mode will earn them REQ points. These points that a player gets can be exchanged for REQ packs.
REQ Packs will give the player a bunch of cards. These cards can be Cosmetic, Permanent, or Single Use cards. Cosmetic cards give you accessories like cool armor, helmets, gun skins etc. Some examples of the Permanent cards are the standard loadout weapons like assault rifles, pistol. The Single Use cards can only be used in 12 vs 12 Warzone Matches and players can use them to get vehicles and power weapons, rocket launchers, etc. In arena mode, the player can only use the Cosmetic items and boosts. In the warzone, though, everything can be used. A word of caution - the cards can be permanent (e.g. armor) but they may also disappear after the first use (e.g. weapons). Also, redeeming REQ cards in warzone mode takes up some energy.
Once the game is released, 1,000 different REQ packs are available for purchase with REQ points or real world money. If a player gets cards they don't need, do not fret. Just exchange the cards at the REQ Station for more REQ Points.
Another piece of good news is that the game will stream at 60 fps so gamers can expect smoother gameplay.
"Halo 5: Guardians" will be released on October 27. It costs $60. People can pre-order at GameStop for their copies and also for the Collector's Edition.
