"As big as he is, Rick Ross should know the difference between a continent & country," tweeted Trevor Noah.

"Uh Africa isn't a country bawse," tweeted Jay Swing.

Other fans defended the rapper, claiming he made a simple mistake and got caught for something many other people do regularly.

"U going in Funmi- it was a slip of tongue-I hope. We've heard this so often tho, nothing new. I hate that he got caught," tweeted Lilian N. Blankson.

"Baby, you're making excuses for your boy.. I get it. Lol! It's called ignorance my dear:)," responded Funmi Kuye'.

Rick Ross has been busy promoting Wale's The Gifted album. Wale signed to Ross's Maybach Music Group imprint back in 2011 and has released two albums on the label that include his brand new record, which was released worldwide today.

Rick Ross has been instrumental in launching the careers of artists such as Philadelphia's own Meek Mill and has helped Wale to stay relevant in an ever changing hip-hop market. Ross expressed his gratitude to God in another tweet dedicated toward his feelings toward the success of others.

"I thank God I was always the type [of] person [who] loved to see another shine," said Ross on his Twitter earlier today. "Reason where I am now."

Rick Ross is expected to release a new album titled Mastermind sometime in the near future.
