Sacramento Kings News 2015: Cousins, Rondo Have Exclusive Two-Hour Meeting

It's not often that you see NBA players summoning their coach for a meeting; simply because what's traditional is the other way around. However, Sacramento Kings head coach George Karl was a recipient of that rare instance last week when star players Rajon Rondo and DeMarcus Cousins reached out to him for an exclusive meeting.

The meeting among the three most important personalities in the team comes after Cousins and Karl had a widely publicized argument early this month. But the good news is that the meeting was actually a positive one, which supposedly was only intended for 15 minutes, but eventually went for two hours.

The Kings are currently below .500 with a 7-12 record, which may actually be the underlying cause of the tension between Karl and Cousins. But after that meeting, they managed to go 2-2, while the star center is still nursing a lower back strain.

Rondo later talked about it with Yahoo! Sports. "It's a powerful meeting for all three of us," he told Marc J. Spears. "We asked coach to just sit with us so we can pick his brain and share our thoughts. What I love about him is he's very open. George is not a dictator," the point guard added.

Rondo didn't hide the fact that he'd wanted to sit down with Cousins and coach Karl weeks before. He said in the same report that the discussion they had was "natural" and that the coach was very open-minded and positive. Both players reportedly were able to finally let go of those frustrations.

The meeting was primarily a two-way talk in which Karl gave his side on what he believes could make the team better, while both players also shared what they believed to be aspects of the Kings' game that need changes.

Cousins for his part told Spears that everything is just about figuring out ways on how to win. "We're just trying to correct every mistake we have. We want to be a winning team, and I feel it starts with myself on down to Rondo as well," the All-Star center said.
