Season 2 of 'Married at First Sight: First Year' will have two couples who are fan favorites
Avid fans of "Married at First Sight" might be disappointed at the show not being renewed for a third season, but they can meanwhile enjoy its spin-off that has been renewed for a second season. "Married at First Sight: First Year" Season 2 features the couples who are still married - Jamie Otis & Doug Hehner and Cortney Hendrix & Jason Carrion - who have renewed their contracts for the second season.
Viewers were furious with the last season of "Married at First Sight" as it had mismatched couples and there were a lot of fights and unsavory happenings in the season. Viewers were especially disgruntled with warring couples Sean & Davina, Ryan R. & Jaclyn, and Ryan D. & Jessica.
Apparently, matters between the couple, Sean Varricchio and Davina Kullar became ugly with Sean calling Davina 'Satan' and Davina saying that her husband was a two-faced man, acting out on camera. The other controversy centered over the pair of Jessica Castro and Ryan De Nino who had initially agreed to stay together but Jessica claimed that Ryan was cheating on her. This enraged Ryan who promised to 'kill her'. Jessica was given protection, but this left a bad taste in the viewers' mouths.
According to MovieNewsGuide, IB Times has reported that with this spin-off, there will be "no new incompatible pairs to be introduced but in fact, we will all be getting a deeper look into how the favorites from season 1 are currently doing."
The upcoming season will instead show viewers the happier side of marriage - audiences will see Jamie & Doug, and Cortney & Jason going from strength to strength from their 6-month celebration to the milestone of completing one year.
Jamie Otis revealed to the International Business Times that she and Hehner were unwilling at first. But seeing that their relationship needed help, they decided to come back. They are nervous but are also excited to share their lives with their fans.
"Married at First Sight: First Year" is definitely a better bet than the flagship series. This spin-off will give viewers a peek into the couple's life, as the network says - "tackling home renovations, talking about future children and one of them will be reconnecting with a long lost relative." The show will take viewers into the couple's married lives, share milestones like holidays, birthdays and anniversaries of friends.
Another positive part of this show is that the couples will be getting expert guidance from the show's panel of experts - sexologist, Dr. Logan Levkoff; psychologist, Dr. Joseph Cilona; and sociologist, Dr. Pepper Schwartz.
Viewers can tune into Season 2 of "Married at First Sight: The First Year" from October 13 onwards.
