Some Xbox 360 Games to Receive Enhancements for Xbox One X Gameplay

News that Xbox One games can be played on the Xbox One X has elated gamers. With Microsoft's latest confirmation involving a much older console, more gamers will likely be enticed to try out the upcoming console once it hits the stores next month.

The tech and gaming giant confirmed in an Xbox Wire post that "select Xbox 360 games" can be played on the Xbox One X "at higher resolution, 9X the original pixel count, and with expanded color details."

The feature was made possible through what they call the Heutchy Method, "which leverages the power of Xbox One X to let the Xbox 360 emulator present the very best version of the game possible with the existing assets—all without touching the game code," Microsoft explained.

Moreover, Microsoft also said that the same method is also being used to improve the graphics of the older games from the Original Xbox compatible on the Xbox One and Xbox One S.

Some of the first Xbox 360 titles that will experience enhancements for the Xbox One X experience include "Assassin's Creed," "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion," "Fallout 3," and "Halo 3." Gamespot also reported that "Halo 3" is a notable title, considering that "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" is also slated for enhancement on the Xbox One X. This could very well signal that Microsoft is keen on providing improvements on other games under the Halo franchise.

Meanwhile, The Verge reported that the games that are tagged for enhancement do not necessarily feature 4K and HDR. What the Xbox One Enhanced program does instead is it optimizes the games, allowing them to run better on the upcoming console on a 4K or 1080p TV.

Furthermore, Microsoft also stressed how much they value compatibility, saying it benefits not only the company but also the game developers and the gaming community in general. "Preserving the art form of video games is part of our DNA, which is why Xbox One is the only console designed to play the best games of the past, present and future," Microsoft added.

The Xbox One X officially launches on Nov. 7 for $500 USD.
