Sony Teases 'Big Game Announcements' in Upcoming Event This Month

The month of October will be full of surprises for PlayStation owners and fans.

Gaming giant Sony confirmed in a Tweet that huge announcements are lined up for the upcoming Paris Games Week 2017 event. Slated to take place on Oct. 30, the show starts at 3 p.m. GMT in Paris, France, or 8 a.m. ET in the U.S.

"PlayStation Live From Paris Games Week is coming. Tune in for big game announcements & updates on 30/10," posted PlayStation Europe on Twitter. Moreover, Sony also said in a blog post that it will release "slew of updates and announcements" leading to the Media Showcase where fans will "get a look at some spectacular new games coming to PS4 and PS VR."

For those who cannot join the festivities in person, Sony confirmed that fans can still catch the action via different platforms. "You can watch all the fun from the comfort of your home, office or... home office, via playstation.com/pgw, Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook," wrote Sony.

Meanwhile, Gamespot noted that the Paris Games Week has been a big event for the company in the past. The event has been the home to some of Sony's biggest game announcements like the multiplayer mode of "Uncharted 4," the release date of "Street Fighter V," and the latest footage of "Horizon Zero Down," to name a few.

Furthermore, the report also mentioned that the Paris event takes place just two months before the PlayStation Celebration in California, set in December. It will be interesting to see which games will be revealed during the event later this month, considering that Sony passed on holding a briefing during Gamescom in Germany last August.

The PlayStation 4 still tops total sales among consoles in 2017, so far. NPD Group's latest report said that the console still bested the Nintendo Switch in overall sales for the year, though the latter has taken all of the months except for May and June since it was released in March.
