'Star Wars: Battlefront II' Latest News: Game's New Trailer Features Single-Player Scene
With just a little over a month before the release of "Star Wars: Battlefront II," EA released its latest trailer teasing one of the scenes in the game's single-player mode.
The trailer features protagonist Iden alongside her father, Garrick Versio, as they are briefed by a Messenger droid "with terrifying instructions," explained EA in a blog post. The developer described the Messengers as the foreboding type that "bear the visage of the dead Palpatine, and some are equipped to enforce his will not just with words, but with violent action."
"We don't want to reveal much more about this critical sequence, but it's pretty clear that Iden's 'unusual' mission will place her on a collision course with the last wishes of the fallen Emperor," EA elaborated. They also said that the Messenger is just one of the many different story connections that are found in the single-player mode in relation to the vast Star Wars galaxy.
"Battlefront II's" story features the events that take place between "Return of the Jedi" and "The Force Awakens," said Gamespot. It presents a time when the Emperor Palpatine had already been defeated. His presence, however, can still be felt through that Messengers that are considered "agents of the Contingency." They are part of the Emperor's insurance, in the event that he falls down in defeat.
EA said that gamers can expect more details on Iden, as well as her teammates Hask and Del once the game launches next month. Those who are itching to play, however, do not need to wait that much longer as the game's beta becomes live on Oct. 6. Players who pre-ordered, on the other hand, get to try the beta even earlier on Oct. 4.
"Star Wars: Battlefront II" launches on Nov. 17 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The beta will be available on all three platforms, but owners of the latter need to meet certain requirements released by EA.
