Teenage Boy Allegedly Kills Baby ,Then Plays Video Games
A teenage boy is facing murder charges after allegedly severely battering a baby under his care.
Willie Brown was at his girlfriend's home watching the four-month-old baby boy Demari Brown. Police have indicated he was the father of the child, but Assistant State Attorney Heather Kent said the baby was just his girlfriend's child.
When Demari's mother arrived at the hospital and asked Brown what he did to her child, he broke down crying and said, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry," reported The Chicago Sun-Times.
Brown allegedly was with Demari in the bedroom when the child began crying. A short while later the baby was no longer making any sound, said Kent. Brown then left the bedroom and began to play video games.
As time passed, another person entered the room where they found the baby unresponsive, according to CBS Chicago.
Demari was found to have had fractures to the skull, blunt forced trauma to the head, rib fractures, hemorrhages, and other fractures that looked to be healing on the wrist and ribs.
It was determined through autopsy that the child was killed due to multiple blunt forced injuries brought upon by child abuse. The death was ruled a homicide.
According to spokesman Dave Clarkin from the Department of Children & Family Services, an investigation of the baby's mother and grandmother will also begin to see if the child abuse was carried out by others as well. However, there were no prior reports of the family.
