'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 Episode 17 Spoilers: Damon Deals With A Fake Stefan

The CW's hit supernatural drama TV series "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 returns this week with a brand new episode that will see Damon dealing with someone who isn't his brother but looks exactly like Stefan.

Spoiler alert for those who missed "Days of Future Past," Damon failed in his attempt to transfer Stefan's mark to himself. Worse, he wasn't able to make it in time to rescue his brother who ended up getting stabbed by Rayna.

Stefan was not the only one who tasted the wrath of the vampire huntress. Mary Lou and Nora were also marked with Rayna's sword. However, their death brings forth hope for those who are living. Before they perished, the two performed the last ritual that destroyed the sword and the Phoenix stone.

The upcoming episode titled "I went to the Woods," meanwhile, will tackle on the aftermath of what happened in Episode 16.

According to the Futon Critic's synopsis, Stefan is still trapped in between a life or death situation where the only thing he can rely on is his basic instincts.

A promo video teases some of the interesting, and at times, hilarious scenes which hinted that Stefan's body may have already been taken over by another entity.

"I'm sorry, do I know you?" Stefan, who turns out to be not him, asks Damon.

The succeeding events saw him destroying properties and sucking other people's blood, a far cry from the Salvatore who always strives to do what is good.

Alaric and Valerie may have gotten the word about Stefan's weird behavior. They suspect that the present-day Stefan is not really the Stefan they know.

"That is not Stefan. We don't know who that is," Alaric said.

Valerie, however, warned Damon to keep the body of his brother close as they may need it later to bring him back.

"I don't want to spend my life babysitting a cheap knock-off of my brother," Damon complained to his friends over the phone as he watches his sibling devoured a woman.

"I Went To The Woods" is directed by Julie Plec and the teleplay by Neil Reynolds. The segment premieres this Friday, Apr. 8 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
