'The Walking Dead' Season 8 to Feature an 'All Out War'
With still a month before its return for an eighth season, a promotional image for "The Walking Dead" has been released and it tcertainly conveys a strong message.
According to a report from Deadline, AMC, the show's carrier network, unveiled an official art for season 8. The image features lead star Andrew Lincoln who plays Rick Grimes along with the other survivors. Meanwhile, the words "ALL OUT WAR" serve as the image's backdrop.
Aside from the official art, AMC also released 15 new photos exclusive to IGN. Apart from Rick Grimes, the pictures also showcased the other key characters like Carol and Daryl, among others, striking fierce poses.
Based on season 8's synopsis, the story picks up from Rick "rallying together other communities affected by the Saviors" and Negan. In the new season, Rick will be the one bringing an "all-out war" to Negan and his allies, despite the latter being the more larger and more equipped bunch.
"The battle lines are drawn as they launch into a kinetic, action-packed offensive. Up until now, survival has been the focus of Rick and our group, but it's not enough. They have to fight to take back their freedom so that they can live. So that they can rebuild," the synopsis added.
Fans can expect thrilling action to further build up, as Rick leads the Alexandrian forces, while Maggie takes the helm for Hilltop. Add to that the Kingdom of King Ezekiel and the tide may soon turn against Negan and the Saviors.
During the San Diego Comic-Con event in July, the show gave fans a season 8 teaser in the form of an extended trailer. The clip confirmed that there will indeed be a war. The most interesting takeaway, however, was an image toward the end of the trailer showing a much older version of Rick.
The protagonist was seen inside a hospital and holding a cane.
"The Walking Dead" Season 8 airs Oct. 22 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
