'Vikings' Season 4 Episode 8 Spoilers: Ragnar Unveils Plan to Conquer Paris

The previous episode of "Vikings" Season 4, "The Profit and the Loss" could easily be considered one of the most devastating and shameful defeats of Ragnar Lothbrok in his career as a conqueror of lands.

Fueled with rage, Rollo, the Vikings rushed forward into an impregnable defense that Ragnar's brother had built for Paris. Half a dozen of boats of the Northmen overturned and were set on fire. Meanwhile, many of the Viking warriors were slaughtered as volleys upon volleys of bolts rained on them.

Moreover, the incident almost caused the demise of Lagertha who was tasked to scale up one of the towers from the side and take down the Franks manning it. However, they all got it wrong as Rollo has already anticipated that attack. Most of Lagertha's forces got wiped out and she barely escaped herself.

To make the matter even worse, while the Vikings are away for their first assault, a small group of Frankish warriors ravaged their camp and killed the women who were left to run it. Luckily, Ragnar's sons and Yidu escaped the slaughter.

It's a double whammy victory for Rollo who just made himself become more relevant in the French court. However, the promo video for the upcoming episode titled "Portage" saw Rollo addressing to Emperor Charles the reality that as long as his brother is alive, they haven't got the victory they truly wanted.

And he has all the reason to believe to because according to the synopsis shared over at Zap2it.com, Ragnar will come up with an "ingenious plan" to bring down the defense and destroy Paris. This will happens in the midst of the unrest inside the Viking camp.

The teaser also gave a glimpse on what other things to expect in the episode. For one, there's a fallout between Harbard and Aslaug. Kwenthrith, meanwhile, received the shocking news from Ecbert who said that she's no longer the queen of Mercia.

Don't miss the exciting developments in "Vikings" Season 4, which airs this Thursday, April 7 at 10 p.m. on the History Channel.
