'WWE 2K18' Developers Share Key Details of Game's Customization Features, Graphics

With "WWE 2K18" hitting the stores in less than two weeks, two of the game's developers shared some juicy details behind some of the game's newest features.

In an interview with Gamespot, creative director Lynell Jinks and game designer Ramelle Ballesca shared that there will be changes in the segments and promos on the Universe and MyCareer modes. For the "2K18" edition, the developers "added a ton of animations to specific superstars like the Undertaker, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Enzo so that they feel like themselves when doing a promo," said Ballesca.

Moreover, he also added the there will be a change in the way they scored the promos. Last year, the scoring was based on the characters being a heel or a face. This year, they decided to focus more on the topics selected by the players and the way they stuck to it. "Now, you could totally say what you want, and you'll be scored heavily based off of that now," Ballesca added.

Meanwhile, Jinks stressed they bent on improving further in the graphics department with "WWE 2K18" to make the game look more realistic. "I was set in that direction, and honestly just working with Yuke's to make sure that they reach what my goal was and our goal was. For me, it was to deliver the best looking wrestling game ever, right?" Jinks stated.

He admitted that it took them quite some time to get to reach the level they wanted to achieve. He noted that they were quite disappointed with how "WWE 2K15" came about on the current gen platforms. He said that they worked really closely with Yuke right from day one "to ensure that we basically got what you see now."

The two also touched on some of the other new features like the eight-man matches and the new carry system. Jinks explained that they first had to find ways in optimizing the characters to meet the requirements in terms of details needed for a cohesive eight-man match.

As for the carry system, it allows players to carry their opponents in different positions using newly-installed modifiers.

WWE.com also reported that five DLC packs and the Season Pass will be released later this month.

"WWE 2K18" launches on Oct. 17 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. A Nintendo Switch version is also slated to arrive sometime this fall.
