5 Jesus statues to see around the world
There are many other Jesus statues around the world including several that are underwater, including Christ of the Abyss statues in the Mediterranean Sea, the Island of Grenada, and near Key Largo, Florida.
Hollywood actor and pro-life advocate, Eduardo Verástegui, is planning to beat all prior records of designing the tallest statue of Jesus when he completes one that will be erected in his hometown in Mexico that he hopes will bring tourism to the area.
According to Mexico News Daily, the popular Mexican actor and devout Catholic has hired architect Fernando Romero to have the statue built this year in Tamaulipas' state capital, Ciudad Victoria.
He named the statue "Christ of Peace" because Ciudad Victoria is described as one of the most dangerous areas of Mexico, with a reported “83.32 homicides per every 100,000 people.”
The statue will be built at a towering 252 feet, which is nearly twice the size of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
