A&E Announces Premiere Date, Special Guest Appearance for Season 6 of 'Duck Dynasty'

The A&E television network has set a date for the season 6 premiere of "Duck Dynasty," saying the beloved reality show will resume episodes in June 2014. The network also announced a special political guest, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, set to appear on the reality show's premiere episode.

The network said that the show's sixth season will premiere on June 11 at 10 p.m. EST, and the first episode will include classic Robertson antics and humor that have helped it become the most-watched unscripted series telecast in television history.

"Phil is more tangled in the never-ending battle with the beavers on his land than the family's multi-million dollar duck call business. Meanwhile, boss Willie is trying to keep everything afloat while managing brother Jase's deadpan humor alongside Uncle Si's backwoods philosophies," the A&E press release states.

"And outside of the family business, Miss Kay decides she has time to take up coupon-cutting while the whole family gathers around to cheer on Reed as he graduates from high school."

The sixth season's premiere will reportedly be centered around Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal's visit to the Robertson family property in West Monroe, Louisiana, where the politician awarded Willie Robertson with the inaugural "Governor's Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence" for his entrepreneurial spirit in turning the Duck Commander brand into a multi-million dollar company.

When Jindal gave Willie the award earlier this year, he commemorated the Robertson family for "[living] the American Dream" and "[proving] there are no limits to what you can accomplish."

The governor added that he chose the Robertson family and their Duck Commander company due to the "the tremendous impact that Duck Commander's expansion has had on our community and on all Louisianians."

The premiere will reportedly provide a behind-the-scenes look into the Robertson family preparing for the award ceremony, including Willie's son, John Luke, attempting to write an introductory speech and Miss Kay, Willie's mom, struggling to make a decision on a final outfit.

"Duck Dynasty's" season 5 ratings saw a slight decrease from its high ratings of past seasons, but the show was still ranked a top pick for the 18-49 age demographic on Wednesday evenings during its season 5 run. Additionally, the show's season 5 premiere's ratings matched its season 4 finale and season three premiere ratings almost exactly, with 8.5 million viewers.
