Android 4.4, KitKat Update Spotted on a Nexus 5 Prototype

An Android 4.4, KitKat log file was spotted running on a Nexus 5 prototype this week.

An early version of the device running an Android build version labeled KRS74H was disocovered by Myce.com, which is a publication that has been pretty reliable in the past concerning leaks.

The site also reported that the update is 10MB in size has 133,000 lines. It cannot be published in full at this time as it contains details that would identify the user of the device using the KitKat build. The device it is running on was labeled as Hammerhead by Myce, which is actually a codename for the unreleased LG-D820 smartphone that is rumored to be the Nexus 5.

The log revealed a few things concerning its specs as the handset will come with a Full HD display with (1920x1080) resolution at 443ppi. This matches up to a 5-inch screen that would be at that resolution, according to Android Authority.

There is also a screenshot available that features new icons that can be found in the status bar with one of them showing what looks like a slice of pie with an antenna. This could be related to KitKat being known internally as Key Lime Pie for quite some time. This same slice was seen in a recent screenshot posted by Google on Korean Keyboard IME a few days ago. The actual shot was pulled off shortly after being put up.

The two other icons in the status bar look like Google Authenticator notifications. However, they are not the ones used by the public app as they have a Bluetooth icon on top of them.

The KRS74H indicates a Sept. 12 build date for the software, which means that this version is fresh. A final version should be coming soon.
