Ashton Kutcher Speaks About Steve Jobs: 'He Was an Anti-hero'
Ashton Kutcher is starring in the Steve Jobs biographical film, "Jobs," which opens this Friday. The actor recently spoke at a press conference about his feelings on Jobs, and how he embodied that character for the movie.
Kutcher discussed the fun of playing a character like Jobs due to Steve Jobs' flawed nature.
"He was an anti-hero, a flawed hero, and it's fun to play flawed heroes because they feel more real and are relatable. It makes you feel better about your flaws," Kutcher told The Boston Hearald.
The actor spoke to the fact that Jobs was not the nicest man in the world, but admitted some of Jobs's success laid in his less-than-positive character traits.
"There were things that he did where the Steve Jobs approach seemed very blunt and unkind. However it was that same blunt discernment that allowed him to create the amazing products we all take for granted," Kutcher said.
But playing Steve Jobs wasn't all fun for Ashton Kutcher. He apparently tried to emulate Jobs's diet and ended up unwell.
"I read a book that Steve read called the 'Mucusless Diet Healing System.' It was kind of Steve's dietary bible. It talked about the value of grape sugar and it being the only pure sugar that your body can have. I think the guy who wrote that book was pretty misinformed. I went on this fruitarian diet and my insides got pretty messed up. My pancreas went crazy. It was really painful. I didn't know what was wrong until we figured out that my insulin levels were really off," the actor said.
