Beyonce Tumblr: Singer Honors Sister Solange On Her Birthday (PHOTO)
Beyonce shared a personal photo taken from her childhood in honor of her sister Solange's birthday on Monday.
Born on June 24, 1986, Solange Knowles is Beyonce's little sister by five years.
On Solange's 27th birthday this year, the "Love On Top" singer sent a special birthday wish.
"Happy Birthday to my Thu Thu," wrote Beyonce on a photo posted to Instagram.
The image was taken years ago of the young sisters sitting side-be-side and slightly smiling at the camera.
Beyonce and her sister both appear to be under the age of 10 in the photo, but their sisterly bond was already evident.
While Beyonce often shares intimate photos on her blog, iam.beyonce.com, the Grammy Award-winning singer used Instagram to share the sisters' pic instead.
Meanwhile, Solange recently welcomed the media into her impressive home in Brooklyn, New York.
The mother of seven-year-old Daniel "Julez" Smith Jr. discussed her "Just keep it chill" style while speaking to Elle magazine last year.
"I had a moment when I looked at my closet and I was like, 'Whoah, I really don't have any basics,'" Knowles explained to the magazine. "And with my house, I wanted to find a balance of having great colors and patterns but also a really livable, warm, serene space."
Furthermore, Solange revealed that Beyonce as well as her husband Jay-Z and their daughter Blue Ivey are often over at her house for dinner.
However, other members of Beyonce's family are reportedly not as close as the two sisters are.
Mathew Knowles, Beyonce and Solange's father, is suing London's Sun tabloid for defamation of character over a report that "knowingly and maliciously misrepresented [his] relationship with his daughter, Beyonce, and with his granddaughter, [Blue Ivey Carter], according to E! News.
The March 2013 article suggested a "rift" between Beyonce and her father and alleged that Mathew Knowles has not yet Blue Ivey, who was born in Jan. 2012.
Knowles explained his stance on the lawsuit in a statement.
"My daughters and family mean the world to me," he said, according to E!
"The barrage of repeated falsehoods spawned by the British Sun's defamatory article has been exhausting and personally damaging to me," he added, before noting that he was going after the newspaper in court over its "basic level of journalistic integrity."
