'Big Brother' 16 Spoilers: New Cast, Plenty of New Twists Abound in First Episode
"Big Brother" kicked off season 16 last night, and viewers were finally introduced to the first eight houseguests. Of course, with "Big Brother," the motto is to "expect the unexpected," and there are plenty of twists and turns to keep everyone on their toes this summer.
"This is the most twisted summer ever," host Julie Chen warned before the first set of eight houseguests entered the competition. Paola, Donny, Devin, Joey, Frankie, Amber, Nicole, and Cody then all entered the BB (Big Brother) House and began scheming to ensure they would win the season. But first, the group spent time getting to know one another.
The first eight immediately made a full alliance known as the "Crazy Eight," and pledged full loyalty until the end of the game. However, other people decided to make secondary alliances for more security. Donny and Devin were the first to make their own alliance, but they did not give it a name. The two men agreed they thought they could trust one another but promised not to tell anyone about their secret. Meanwhile, the four girls in the house decided to make an alliance amongst themselves known as "El Quatro."
After a bit of planning, Chen announced that it was time for the contestants to compete in their first Head of Household test. All eight started out strong, but it quickly narrowed down to Amber and Frankie. Earlier in the evening, Chen had warned that one of the key twists in the game was that the Head of Household would no longer be guaranteed safety from elimination. Knowing that, Amber threw the game and allowed Frankie to win.
Back inside, Chen explained that the second group of eight contestants would soon be entering the house and compete in their own Head of Household competition. This week would see two Head of Households, but by the end of the week, there would be only one. Chen then bade the houseguests a "good night" as they sat, dumbstruck by the announcement.
In another twist, known only to viewers, an alliance known as Team America will be put together by the public. Viewers can vote on who they want to be in an alliance with, and those three people will be "controlled" by the viewers and be given "missions" from the audience.
"Big Brother" airs Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday nights on CBS.
