'Biggest Loser' Healthy, Rachel Frederickson Insists While Debuting New, Healthier Look (VIDEO)
"Biggest Loser" winner Rachel Frederickson debuted a new, healthier image during an appearance on the "Today" show. She again defended her dramatic weight loss and said that her time on the NBC show was monitored by doctors and was completely healthy.
"What I've learned is I have an inner strength, I have a voice. I can trust myself," Frederickson said of all those who commented on her immense weight loss.
The reality star lost nearly 60 percent of her body weight in the span of seven months, leading to shock and awe during her revelation on the finale of "Biggest Loser." Many wondered whether that much loss was healthy and whether Frederickson had gone too far in her attempt to win the grand prize of $250,000. However, Frederickson stuck to her guns and said that she was under supervision and kept an eye on how much she was eating in order to stay healthy.
"I dieted, I exercised and did it healthy the whole way," Frederickson told Savannah Guthrie. "I appreciate all the concern and can see where it comes from."
Frederickson looked a bit healthier on the "Today" show and said that she is in the "maintenance" stage of her weight loss, which she explained takes a lot of balance and prioritization. She went from being 260 pounds at the start of the show to 105 pounds at the finale, a total loss of 155 pounds and 60 percent of her body weight. Frederickson was clearly ecstatic at the finale, even though others were stunned and shocked.
"I felt so proud of everything I'd accomplished," she said. "My journey was my own and I loved it. I lived it. I really felt proud of what I did. You're with you the rest of your life. Better accept and love yourself. And if everyone can have that gift, that's amazing. That's what I've gotten from 'The Biggest Loser.'"
