Black Friday Walmart Ad 2011: Stores to Open at 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving

Walmart has announced that it will open its doors at 10 p.m. Thanksgiving night in conjunction with the release of the retailer's Black Friday ad, but not everyone is excited about the sales deals being offered.

"Our customers told us they would rather stay up late to shop than get up early, so we're going to hold special events on Thanksgiving and Black Friday," Duncan Mac Naughton, Walmart's chief merchandising officer, U.S., said in a statement.

The popular retailer is offering big time door buster deals on toys, clothes and home accessories like $5 Barbie jeans, portable speakers for $7, a pulse electric scooter for $69 and a Sony Connected Blu-ray Player w/ Netflix for $79.

Electronic items will be discounted at midnight. Deals include a Kodak 14-megapixel camera for $49, a Magellan GPS for $69 and a Samsung 51-inch plasma TV for $498.

Kicking off Black Friday at 8 a.m., the retailer will continue the holiday discounting frenzy.

Serious deal hunters have the option to download a map of all Walmart stores. The map can be found on the retailer's Facebook page.

In recent weeks, the company has announced a number of additional shopping incentives including price matching from now until Dec. 15, layaways on purchases over $15, free shipping on most Walmart.com products and a 10 cent discount on each gallon of gas bought at participating Murphy USA or Walmart stations.

Some prospective customers have expressed excitement about the released sale ad. However, others have not. On Facebook, one person said, "I wasn't very impressed...expected better I guess :( We will have to see what other ad's [sic] come out."

Another said, "Some people are just crazy....Walmart always have [sic] deals....Black Friday I will be sleeping in."

One customer said to beware of sale items selling out quickly. He wrote, "To those who wish to get their specials online at Walmart.com, don't be surprised if it is all 'SOLD OUT' in less than 1 second."
