Casey Anthony Confirms $1M Interview, TV Producer Claims
A television producer has claimed that he has scooped the first television interview with Casey Anthony since her release from prison last weekend. The deal is allegedly for $1 million, and was arranged at a secret meeting in a Palm Springs hotel Tuesday.
Freelance TV Producer Al Taylor announced Wednesday on Dr. Drew Pinksy’s HLN show: “I got a call early Tuesday morning from a representative that said if you want to meet with her, be in this certain area in 15 minutes.”
He added: “I was game. I showed up. I wasn’t for sure if I was going to meet her, and sure enough, she was there.”
Taylor explained that he had no evidence of the meeting to prove it had taken place; he had been searched before meeting Anthony, and was not allowed any cameras or cell phones into the meeting.
He claims Anthony was flanked by her lawyer Jose Baez, and took part in a 15 to 20 minute meeting to discuss his interview proposal, the Daily Mail has reported.
He also said that Anthony was most-concerned about ensuring she received the $1 million agreed for the interview, and also that she would not keen on the suggestion of taking a lie detector test for his show. Taylor reported to the HLN show, “I want to hook her up to a lie detector after we do the interview, and she was unsure about that of course, and I said, ‘Well, it helps you in the end… I don’t think it was a deal breaker, but she definitely wasn’t that interested in doing a lie detector.”
Taylor also urged her to do the interview as soon as possible; saying that she was currently worth $1 million, but that in six weeks she would only be worth one-tenth of that value.
Unconfirmed reports have indicated that the $1 million offer would be for Anthony to be interviewed by an as yet unconfirmed host, through Taylor’s own company Private Elevator Productions.
Anthony’s lawyer Jose Baez has admitted in an interview with Fox News that he would meet with Taylor to hear more about the offer but flatly denied the deal had been sealed.
Casey Anthony was acquitted of the murder of her daughter, but was convicted of charges of lying to detectives during the investigation, and sentenced to four years in jail. However, credit for time served awaiting trial and good behavior meant that she only spent less than two weeks more in prison after her sentencing.
Since her release her whereabouts and how she is funding her new life on the outside have not been made public. However, her lawyers have confirmed that she is safe and has also received hundreds of job and housing offers, according to Reuters.
She was last seen when her attorney, Jose Baez, led her from the jail on July 17 to an SUV, and the two quickly made their getaway from the hoard of media gathered outside the jail.
According to WFTV, Casey Anthony was spotted boarding a private plane at Orlando Executive Airport. The plane, however, has been seen in various locations since then including Arizona, Florida and Louisiana.
