Charlize Theron Adoption of Baby Boy
Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron has announced that she has expanded her family on Wednesday.
The 36-year-old actress adopted a baby boy, according to her representative's statement, released to the Associated Press.
"She is the proud mom of healthy baby boy named Jackson," said Theron's publicist. Jackson is the first child for the Africa-born actress.
While she takes on motherhood, Theron has said in the past that she has no interest in ever marrying.
"[Marriage] is not my thing," said the actress during an interview with People magazine last year, adding that it was "never something that was important [to me]."
Theron was in a 9-year-long relationship with actor Stuart Townsend. She once told Oprah that Townsend was "the best thing that ever happened to me," but the couple split in Aug. 2010. Theron has also been linked to her "North Country" co-star Jeremy Renner.
News of her adoption comes as no surprise, as the actress told Germany's In Touch magazine "I want a baby. If it would happen tomorrow I would still be very happy about it."
The blonde, blue-eyed actress remains very grounded in her fame in Hollwood, and claims her glamorous job does not change her roots.
"I'm 50 percent farm girl," said Theron speaking to People. "I can milk cows and get dirty and, when the time is right, put on heels and do my hair."
She won an Oscar for her role as a female serial killer in 2003's "Monster."
Theron recently appeared in "Young Adult" where she played an unhappy and self-loathing 30-something.
In "Snow White and the Huntsmen," Theron portrays an evil queen in the modern twist to the fairytale. Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth co-star in the film, which hits theaters June 1.
